Festival of Media Global cites entries from Thailand, China and India

GLOBAL – MAY 2011 – As digital media continues its rise, media professionals and advertisers gathered in Montreux, Switzerland on May 8 to 10 for the  the Festival of Media Global 2011, showcasing their creative use of media and the vast opportunities it offers global and regional brands. 
 
From its premier launch in 2007, The Festival of Media has aimed to address the challenges he industry faces and at the same time seeks out global visionaries who will shape the future and develop innovative and effective media communication solutions around the world. 
 
The festival also gives out awards to the best in media thinking from around the world. A panel of experts determines the winners from the shortlist of over 50 competing countries, giving two awards for the best in each category – Winner and Highly Commended. 
 
Asia bagged a total of four awards from China, India and Thailand. 
 
PHD China’s “Unbeatable Drama” for Clear Shampoo which features a 36-episode drama series focusing on how Clear Shampoo gave the protagonists an “unbeatable spirit” to succeed, giving the campaign a Highly Commended Award for the Best use of Content category.
 
Mindshare India took home a Highly Commended for Best Use of Mobile with their “A Quick Call and Say Goodbye to Headache” campaign for IODEX Headfast which utilized mobile marketing to target the lower socio economic group of India who are not able to read. 
 
MediaCom India also received Highly Commended honors for "Launching Volkswagen Polo in India". Mindshare Thailand bagged the People’s Award for "Life is a Musical".
 
Among the shortlisted entries was Pampers Stretchycise, a series of three-minute videos made by MediaCom Philippines for the Pampers “Active Baby” campaign. The 10 episode baby yoga instructional videos were shortlisted under Best Use of Content and Best Use of Communications/Entertainment platform. 
 
Starcom Norway was Agency of the Year; Starcom Mediavest Group was Network of the Year. Simulmedia received the Hot Company of the Year Award. News Corporation’s Chief Digital Officer and CEO of the Digital Media Group Jon Miller was proclaimed Visionary of the Year. Mars was named Advertiser of the Year.
