adobo magazine, October 20, 2017 | 8:02am

Jim Guzman joins Dentsu Aegis Network (DAN) as Head of Social starting October 2, 2017. His tasks is to put social in the DNA of all the DAN PH brands. Reporting to Donald Lim, CEO of DAN PH, Jim’s role is to streamline all the social media capabilities of the network so there will be a center of expertise for the practice.

“We are set to take social in new unprecedented heights. Expect new capabilities and offerings to be rolled out in the coming months. I am very excited to work with all the creative and talented men and women behind the success of DAN PH, and with Donald, my mentor since I started my career in digital marketing,” he declares.

For Jim there’s no place like home.  And for a digital/social media practitioner like Jim, the Philippines will always be the best place to play, since the country has the best and the most engaged audience online. His challenge at the onset is how to up the game as companies take it seriously more than ever. Gone were the infancy days of social, everyone’s now striving to achieve a certain level of maturity so they can link it with business. And that indeed is the vision for social in DAN – to offer it as a business solution, not just doing it for the sake of doing it.

Donald pronounces, “Having worked with Jim before, I have seen how passionate he is in navigating brands to succeed in this fast changing digital marketing landscape. Now armed with regional experience, I am confident that we have brought back to Manila and our network a social media trailblazer that would bring brands playing in the social media space to the next level.”

Jim came from McCann Worldgroup where he worked for almost a decade both locally and regionally. During his stint in MRM//McCann Manila, he led the team behind the digital success of Nescafe in the Philippines, the leading, multi-awarded and most popular FMCG brand online. Nescafe Points, the first ever DRM platform in the country, was at the forefront of the brand’s success on the Internet. It is a digital rewards engine created to drive growth, engagement and influence within the brand's social communities. Aside from Nestle, Guzman also worked on various brands like Jollibee where he launched Jollitown.com.ph, BPI Loans, Coffee-Mate, Nestle RTD, M. Lhuillier, Sky Cable & Sky Broadband and United Laboratories.

In 2014, Jim moved to Singapore to join Commonwealth//McCann, a bespoke agency created for one of McCann’s biggest global account, General Motors. He led the social business for Chevrolet covering Asia, Middle East and South Africa. During his time, he macro-managed countries across the globe and ensured that all markets adhere to the Global Social Media Operations Framework which includes strategy, content, operations and performance. In 2015, he was appointed as Social Media Director in McCann Worldgroup Singapore leading both the practice and the business in the agency. Together with his team, he managed to work with brands like Owndays, Nespresso, Land Transportation Authority, Xbox, Nestle, Singapore Exchange, Mastercard and Darlie.

Jim is a graduate of Integrated Marketing Communications at the University of Asia and the Pacific.
