2010 ARAW Values Advertising Awards: call for entries

PHILIPPINES, SEPTEMBER 2010 – The Advertising Foundation of the Philippines has opened its call for entries for the 2010 ARAW Values Advertising (AVA) Awards: "Let Filipino Values Shine", the show honoring implemented and executed ads incorporating values and creativity.  
 
This year, aside from categorizing entries by medium, entries will also be classified according to the Seven Cornerstone Values of the AVA Awards: (1) love of God and respect for religious beliefs; (2) commitment to truth, honesty and justice; (3) love of country and respect for national customs and traditions; (4) reverence for family, unity and inviolability of marriage; (5) respect and care for human life and dignity and the rights of all; (6) respect for law and authority and the promotion of self-discipline; and (7) concern and preservation of the environment. The above values should be included as social messages of advertisements and materials for companies on Branded Communications and Advocacy Advertising. 
 
The competition is open to any company or individual belonging to an AdBoard represented organization, other members of the Ad Foundation as well as non-profit organizations. For the first time, AVA Awards will also have a student competition. Materials entered must have been aired, published or exhibited within the period of May 1, 2008 up to September 15, 2010. 
 
“We have to enhance the biennial awards program to incorporate new fields and trends in the marketing communications discipline and be more responsive to developments in our environment”, said 2010 AVA Awards Overall Chairman Meckoy Quiogue. “As we adhere to the original vision of the Values Advertising awards, we are reviewing all the program components to make the Awards more meaningful and relevant to the times.” 
 
The organizing committee of the 2010 AVA Awards is headed by  overall chairman Manuel P. Quiogue and  vice-chairpersons Lorenzo “Chichi” Barros, and Ma. Belen M. Fernando; vice-chairman and finance head Ruperto S. Nicdao, Jr.; rules committee chairperson, Nonna P. Nanagas and co-chairman Randy Aquino;  ways & means committee chairperson, Hermie de Leon; creative committee chairperson, Merlee Jayme; creative – book project chairman, Robert Labayan; production chairman, Allen S. Velez; and vice-chairman, Vince S. Reyes; information & promotions chairman, Lucien Dy Tioco and vice-chairperson, Jay Sarmiento and administrative services committee chairperson, Linda Gamboa. Incumbent Chairman of the Advertising Foundation, Johnip G. Cua, is the committee’s special consultant.
