Inaugural YouTube Ads Awards Philippines announces winners, McDonald’s Philippines wins first-ever Ad of the Year

The winners of the first-ever YouTube Ads Awards Philippines have finally been announced in a celebration of digital creative storytelling last May 10, 2018 at the BGC Arts Center. 

McDonald’s Philippines gained the distinction of being the program’s first Ad of the Year winner with “Wait Lang Po” which came out during last year’s Father’s Day celebration. The ad by creative agency Leo Burnett Manila also won two Crystals or the top category awards for Food and Beverage and Storytelling for Occasions. 

A total of 31 awards were given out from a pool of 57 finalists which were carefully chosen from a field of more than 500 entries. For the YouTube Ads Awards Philippines’ inaugural run, four Crystals were awarded including McDonald’s Philippines two top awards. The other two went to “Son”, a depiction of a mother’s sacrifices, by Seven A.D. for Unilab and to “Kaleidoscope”, a mini-series on modern-day artists, by Publicis JimenezBasic for Globe Telecom.

The program further presented six Second Prizes and 20 Third Prizes, with Globe and Jollibee bringing home the most number of awards at five each. 

The entries were judged according to content, effectiveness, engagement, unique-to-YouTube interactivity, and business impact. 

The first panel of judges for the YouTube Ads Awards Philippines was led by Leigh Reyes, President and CCO of MullenLowe Philippines, and composed of judges Dennis Perez, Head of Media of Unilever Philippines, Candice Iyog, Vice President for Marketing and Distribution of Cebu Pacific Air, Joe Dy, Executive Creative Director of McCann Worldgroup Philippines, TV & radio host, musician, and Palanca Award winner Lourd De Veyra, and one of the Philippines’ top YouTube creators, Mikey Bustos. 

The first YouTube Ads Awards Philippines is held in partnership with adobo magazine.
