PR Congress kicks off in Boracay

September 27, 2013 – The 20th PR Congress kicked off today at Paradise Garden Resort Hotel & Convention Center in Boracay Island.

 
The two-day event began with a keynote speech from Secretary Herminio "Sonny" Coloma of the Presidential Communications Operations Office.
 
This year’s theme is "From Ripples to Waves: PR as Agent of Sustainable Change." Those participating in the congress have the opportunity to be involved in Boracay local government programs such as the Agbaoay watershed tree planting, reef-dome painting, and cleanup.
 
"The two day conference promises to be a gathering of prominent and respected names in the industry, where insights and updates on how PR triggers and radiates new mindsets, setting in motion a rolling impact of action towards sustainable change, will be shared and discussed,” PR Congress Chairperson Charmaine Canillas said.
 
Plenary speakers include writer Lourd de Veyra and DM9JaymeSyfu Chairman and Chief Creative Officer Merlee Jayme, and the Apprentice Asia winner Jonathan Yabut.
 
Other speakers include Google country manager for global communications and public affairs Gail Tan,  CBS Asia Pacific head Gary Chin, iSentia Brandtology co-founder Alvin Chan, Resorts World COO Stephen Reilly, Solaire COO Michael French, P&G external relations country manager Clint Navales, Department of Education undersecretary Mario Deriquito, Petron Foundation executive director Marilou Erni, and Waterhope Foundation executive director Weena Mendoza.
 
Hosted by the Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP), this year’s conference will tackle reputation management, crisis communications, external relations and sustainability reporting.
