For five days, from March 5 to 9, 2009, the Creative Guild Philippines’ “Kidlat Awards” brings to Boracay shores no other than Dave Droga and Stefan Sagmeister, to head the juries of Broadcast and Print, and Design and Interactive, respectively.
< height="155" align="left" width="125" src=" Droga. " alt="" />Dave Droga is the most-awarded advertising creative at the Cannes Lions, with no less than 48 Lions and three Grand Prix awards.
Before founding Droga5, he was worldwide Creative Director of Publicis. With Saatchi and Saatchi, he was the UK office’s creative director, as well as the regional creative director based in Singapore. Droga was dubbed “the world’s best creative director” by Advertising Age and “best creative director” in the UK by the Best of the Best Awards.
Renowned for picking up practically every important design award, Stefan Sagmeister is the founder of Sagmeister,< height="113" align="right" width="149" src=" sagmeister. " alt="" /> Inc. One of most respected companies in the design trade, his firm produces award-winning designs in all print forms, including company brochures, even perfume packaging and CD covers. Among his iconic creations are album covers for Lou Reed, The Rolling Stones and David Byrne. Made You Look, a book solely on Sagmeister’s designs, published in 2001, is a bestseller.
David Guerrero, chairman of BBDO Guerrero and president of The Creative Guild, said of Droga’s and Sagmeister’s upcoming jury duty. “Our aim is to inspire all the talented members of our industry to move forward and improve the competitiveness of our clients by seizing the opportunities the global market presents.”
The Creative Guild of the Philippines is the host of the Philippine Kidlat Awards, the longest-running creative competition in the country. On this year’s board are Kat Gomez-Limchoc of PC&V, Dave Ferrer of JWT, Dino Jalandoni of McCann, Third Domingo of JimenezBasic, Eugene Demata of DM9 JaymeSyfu, Jake Tesoro of TBWASantiago Mangada Puno, and Leigh Reyes of Y&R. The Board is elected yearly from representatives of the Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies of the Philippines (4As-P).
