McCann Worldgroup hosts 9th Young Lotus Creative Workshop

ASIA-PACIFIC – THAILAND, FEBRUARY 22, 2013 – McCann WorldGroup is hosting ADFEST’s 9th Young Lotus Creative Workshop from March 14 to 16 in Pattaya, Thailand. The Workshop commences three days prior to the festival, which runs from March 17 to 19.

 
Spencer Wong, chief creative officer at McCann Worldgroup Hong Kong, will Chair this year’s Young Lotus Creative Workshop. Wong’s passion and drive for fostering young creative talent is evidenced by his ongoing commitment in Hong Kong as Honorable Advisor to Hong Kong University Arts faculty, and through his association as a representative of the advertising industry with CreateHK, a dedicated agency set up to lead, champion and drive the development of the creative economy in Hong Kong.
 
“Young talent is the life-blood of our industry. Developing Asia’s deep creative talent pool is not only vital for our industry but for the cultural and economic development of our region in the long run,” says Wong.
 
“ADFEST introduced the Young Lotus Workshop in 2004 to encourage the rising stars of this region to sharpen their skills, learn from award-winning creative directors, and earn a winning place on the ADFEST stage,” says Vinit Suraphongchai, chairman of the ADFEST Working Committee.
 
“Young Lotus is now well-established as the region’s leading programme for young advertising talents. We’d like to thank McCann Worldgroup for coming on board to challenge and inspire this year’s creative teams.”
 
The Young Lotus Creative Workshop will be facilitated by a select group of “trainers” from McCann Worldgroup. The two-and-a-half day workshop begins with a series of lectures, followed by an assignment to be completed within 24 hours, which will be judged by the Young Lotus Creative Committee from McCann Worldgroup.
 
Finalist teams will present their brief on stage at ADFEST during the Young Lotus Creative Session on Monday, March 18, 12:00pm. Following this Session, ADFEST delegates will have the chance to vote for the "Popular Vote", before all Young Lotus Creative winners are revealed at the Award Presentation at 6pm, Monday, March 18.
 
Participants must be 28 years of age or under, and will be selected by their local advertising association or representative to represent each market. As participants in the 2013 Young Lotus Creative Workshop, young creatives will learn new insights from McCann Worldgroup’s mentors, meet new friends, and become guests of ADFEST after the Workshop.
 
ADFEST is also launching a second Young Lotus Workshop specifically for marketing talents working within a client organization. Leo Burnett Asia Pacific will host the inaugural Young Lotus Marketer Workshop in 2013.
 
ADFEST 2013 runs from March 17 to 19 at the Pattaya Exhibition and Convention Hall (PEACH) of the Royal Cliff Hotels Group in Thailand.
