MANILA, AUGUST 30, 2013 – Havas Media Gorup Asia Pacific announced yesterday the appointment of Havas Media Ortega chief Eduardo Mapa Jr. as chief innovation officer for Havas Media China. The new position will see Mapa based out of Havas Media China’s Beijing office.
“It feels great!” said Mapa, on his new role. “China is an exciting market and after six years of doing innovative stuff in the Philippines and bringing Media Contacts (Havas Media Ortega’s original name) to where it is now, it’s time to move on. It’s time to move on to the China market and while I’m going to miss my Philippine team, I look forward to meeting up with (Chinese) colleagues and doing great stuff in China.”
Heading up Media Contacts since it first opened its doors in 2008, Mapa directed the digital agency to bag back to back Media Agency of the Year Araw Awards.
Speaking on the Chinese advertising industry, Mapa said, “It’s a whole new exciting world, but I guess that’s who I am – I love exploring things, and the next chapter of my career is exploring the new world of China. I’ve been going back and forth the past two months, and hoo-wah, it really is an exciting market. I’m really looking forward to blaze a trail there.”
