NEW YORK – October 9, 2013 – The Carrie remake is right around the corner, but for some New Yorkers, it arrived a little sooner than expected.
Patrons of a West Village cafe found themselves in a scene right out of the classic horror film when a young woman took her rage out on a guy who spilled coffee on her work.
Of course, it was all a publicity stunt for the movie remake, but for the unsuspecting New Yorkers who were just looking for a caffeine fix, it was quite a scary scene.
The whole set-up was engineered by Sony, who built their stunt control room from behind a fake wall they erected at the ‘sNice cafe.
After spring loading the bookshelves, adding remote controls to the tables, attaching the coffee-spilling guy to a harness, and filling the cafe with actors, the stage was set.
The prank clearly worked–beyond successfully freaking out the coffee-shop customers, the video "Telekinetic Coffee Shop Surprise" is nearing the 4-million-views mark on YouTube.
The remake of Carrie is set to be released on October 18, 2013. It stars Chloe Grace Moretz in the title role and Julianne Moore as her overbearing mother.
