MANILA – October 18, 2013 – Now on its eighth year, BusinessMirror has announced its new publishing schedule and launched its new mobile app as part of its commitment to continue innovating in the years to come.

Publisher Anton Cabangon announced at Business Mirror’s eighth anniversary celebration Thursday night that starting October 19, the number one national business newspaper will be out seven days a week.

Cabangon said this makes BusinessMirror the only business newspaper in the world that is out seven days a week.

"All over the world, business publications distribute four or five days a week. BusinessMirror is going seven days because it’s such a successful endeavour," BusinessMirror VP for Corporate Affairs Ricky Alegre told adobo magazine.

"As part of its renewed commitment to bring you the latest business news, the BusinessMirror will start having a weekend issue, beginning on Saturday, to make it a truly daily newspaper," the editors said on the BusinessMirror website.

"This is to reach out to the younger audience, who we know get their information on their smart phones. It is important for us that we recognize that segment – young entrepreneurs, new graduates, who will be the future subscribers of BusinessMirror," he said.

Available on Android and iOS, the app will be managed by a team of editors who will work 24 hours a day to deliver the latest business news, as well as occasional breaking news. Readers can also access BusinessMirror online, where tomorrow’s news is available by 11 p.m., but the app will contain the most recent updates.

On top of this, the app allows the reader to immediately react to news. "It’s very interactive. The reader can expect to get a reaction from the editors," Alegre said.

BusinessMirror made the announcements on October 17, at the celebration of their eighth anniversary at Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati. Over 500 guests attended the event, were 15 major prizes were raffled off, including a Toyota Vios.

Alegre explained that there were 15 characters in ‘BusinessMirror 8’, which led to the decision to raffle off 15 prizes. "We figured the best way to create some impact is to have 15 major prizes. This was our little way of thanking our advertisers, clients and all those who have been supporting the BusinessMirror," he said.
