MANILA, PHILIPPINES — As restrictions for domestic travel eases and with the vaccination program to begin soon, more and more Filipinos are gearing up to resume their travel plans which were halted by the pandemic.
More than 12 thousand guests purchased the AirAsia Unlimited flight pass last November and December 2020, with a majority redeeming flights to leisure destinations such as Boracay, Bohol and Cebu between February to April this year. This is a positive signal for stakeholders and businesses heavily dependent on travel and tourism including hotels, restaurants and ground transport providers.
Business travelers and Authorized Persons Out of Residence (APORs) meanwhile took advantage of the unli pass deal for their business travels across Visayas and Mindanao.
The increase in demand for air travel is seen to improve with the approval of some local government units of the Saliva RT-PCR test, a cheaper alternative to the nasopharyngeal RT-PCR test.
The support of Malacanang on the establishment of uniform travel requirements in local destinations would facilitate the ease of movement for prospective visitors, eliminating confusion among guests, and additional costs for travel.
AirAsia Philippines Spokesperson Steve Dailisan said, “AirAsia sees the road to recovery for various industries with the roll out of the immunization program. The support of the national government on the uniform travel requirements is a welcome development which will provide convenience amongst air travelers who are eyeing to restart their travel plans for 2021.
“The success of flight redemption of AirAsia’s unlimited flight pass deal is a positive sign that people are regaining confidence in air travel. We hope this will be sustained to accelerate domestic economic activity as we encourage our guests to #RedyscoverthePhilippines.
“You can be assured that AirAsia will continue to explore more unlimited deals that will allow people to travel not just in the Philippines but in some Asean countries once borders reopen.”
Unlimited flight pass holders may continue to redeem flights via unlimited deals on airasia.com or the airasia superapp until 16 October 2021.
