GLOBAL – December 13, 2013 – Social media just got hotter for Joffrey Baratheon, the King everyone loves to hate, as HBO launched an internet roast for the despicable Game of Thrones character.
"All roast the King. Lend us your tongues, taunts and tweets for the first social media roast of the “beloved” King Joffrey. Share your roasts about the King using #RoastJoffrey," HBO invited netizens.
Launched on Friday the 13th, #Roast Joffrey already gained over 40,000 roasts, including featured roasts from Eli Roth, Benji Madden, Ed Sheeran, and even Hannibal, which said: #RoastJoffrey? Sounds delicious.
The Rules of the Roast, HBO said, are:
Bring your wit. Bring the fun. Do these things. And keep your tongue.
Fanning the flames, HBO also urged people to complete the jab, "Without his crossbow, Joffrey would ______." HBO said those who give a full response may receive a #RoastJoffrey sticker.
