GLOBAL – NOVEMBER 2011: The International Advertising Association (IAA) announces industry leading voice, Deborah Malone, as its new global President and Executive Director. Malone will head the industry’s only “tripartite,” integrated international organization that brings together Advertisers, Agencies, and the Media in all aspects of global marketing communications. The IAA has 56 chapters with individual members and young professionals from 76 countries including the top 10 economies in the world.
Malone’s appointment comes at a critical time as the advertising and marketing communications industry experiences dramatic change brought about by technology, globalization, and a new economic reâ€setting.
According to Alan Rutherford, current IAA Chairman, “Deborah is an ideal leader for a contemporary IAA. She is a successful entrepreneur with both vision and the ability to get things done. Her dedication to our industry and her global fluency is unparalleled.”
Malone has been a member of the IAA since 1992 when she launched Ad Age International for Crain Communications. She is founder of The Internationalist, created in 2003, an industryâ€leading magazine and onâ€line communications partner with the advertising and marketing services industry worldwide.
She will continue to oversee content on all Internationalist products while taking on the IAA leadership. The Internationalist, comprised of the magazine, online products and events, awards, conferences and think tanks, will become closely allied with the International Advertising Association with this appointment.
On her appointment, Malone said: “This is a commitment to an industry that I love. It is an honor to help evolve its important role in connecting people, places and ideas. I seek to help the IAA integrate the tremendous talents of this industryâ€â€from advertisers who rely on its vitality for economic development, the media which is so important to social development and education, and the agencies and partners that innovate on behalf of brands and inspire the messages that create value.”
