MANILA, PHILIPPINES — In its continued commitment to honing potential key figures in the future of athletics, adidas unveils its Girls Can Run program with the intent of training women to become better and more empowered athletes. Through the training and mentorship program, adidas aims to encourage everyone, especially young women to take up running.
After thorough screenings, adidas has revealed the final list of participants for the program, with the following women ready to test their limits and emerge as stronger runners for the three-month program:
- Laarni “Lei” Acosta
- Roxanne Angeles
- Joana Azcueta
- Cyril Marie Benedicto
- Gianna Cantoria
- Viktoria Mariae V. Locson
- Iris Messiah Osano
- Ann Jillian Abecia Pulanco
- Lyra Ruth “Apple” Quilloy
- Aimee Elsbeth M. Ramos
- Myla Michel Lingan San Pascual
- Joharra Nashra Sudario
- Yanna Tan
- Marga Tulaylay
- Ge-Anne Marie C. Valmeo
To aid these promising women, adidas will be providing them with series of training under adidas Runners (AR) Manila running and triathlon coach, Nylah Bautista. Through runs, workouts, and time trials, they will be able to strengthen themselves and start their journey to becoming improved athletes. The participants will also be provided with three months’ worth of training from adidas to help keep them moving. By the end of the program, adidas assures that those who dared to take on the challenge will come out fully equipped to surpass hurdles—whether in sports or in life.
The search for the participants for the Girls Can Run program kickstarted back in March, where women ages 21 were invited to sign up for a 3-month training program. The chosen participants will be undergoing rigorous and hands-on training from May to July, and their progress will be evaluated and tested through a culmination activity.
This program was first revealed through adidas Runners (AR) Manila, a community that brings together both beginner and advanced runners across the metro. With weekly workout, running, and nutrition sessions hosted by dedicated adidas creators and coaches, it is a space for runners to get together, update one another on their progress, and share a mutual passion for running. Now, through Girls Can Run, adidas Runners Manila hopes to continue expanding its circle and welcome more aspiring runners to their community.
“Through our Girls Can Run program, adidas empowers women and continues to champion its belief that sports is everyone’s game. Through this, we support the training and molding of more future Filipino athletes by providing them with the opportunities, tools, lessons, and gear they need to achieve their full potential,” said Jen Dacasin, adidas Philippines Brand Activation Manager.
By stepping up to the challenge, these young women are setting an example for others to celebrate and embrace their strength and to never stop moving.
