MANILA – Ompong Remigio has launched Fat Free, an indie shop together with longtime art director partner Bunny Vivero.
The move comes less than a month after Remigio, Campaigns & Grey’s chief creative officer, stepped down in August. Vivero, who was the agency’s art director.
“The concept is to have no layers between the agency and the client. It’s just the two of us and the client,” said Remigio, who has been dubbed the Philippine ‘Queen of Radio’ after amassing 150 radio awards for brands under the Nestlé, Bayer and Johnson & Johnson portfolio. She has also won an equal number for her TV and print output.
“After working for others, I have wanted to do the entrepreneur thing before I die,” Remigio said of her motivations in leaving Campaigns, where she completed 11 years in two stints.
She revealed that Fat Free has partnerships in place with production houses and freelancers.
Campaigns’ Cherry Gutierrez, who heads the agency as its joint CEO alongside Boboy Consunji, revealed that Remigio discussed her plan to step down as early as Q1, citing her intention to partner with friends in the industry to launch an indie agency.
