MANILA – As the Philippines eagerly awaits the arrival of His Holiness Pope Francis, preparations abound: the policemen have been briefed (and no, they are not wearing diapers), the smutty ’welcome’ tarps from public servants have been (hopefully) removed, the offices have closed down in anticipation of carmaggedon, and yes, the commemorative shirts have been designed.
Sold by Caritas Manila and designed by Team Manila, the shirts seem to match the Pope’s less formal, more approachable persona, with typography spelling out phrases like “Pope Francis Rocks!” and “The Pope is Here”.
The best part: proceeds will be used to sustain Caritas Manila’s programs for the poor.
