MANILA — Italian furniture brand Calligaris on March 12 held a grand opening of their new home and showroom at the Mezzanine floor of Clipp Centre, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
Florence Ko, Managing Director of the Gruppo Mobili Philippines, Inc., the distributor of Calligaris in the Philippines welcomed the press.
“Bringing in a brand is easy. But behind each company, there is a reason why I got this brand. I don’t want to waste money. I don’t want to fool my customers. Bringing in Calligaris is one of the best decisions I’ve made for this line,” said Ko.
Mr. Alessandro Calligaris himself, President of Calligaris and third generation of the family flew all the way from Italy to grace the launch, “For me, the opportunity to meet journalists in this moment is very interesting. It’s an opportunity to introduce the philosophy of our company.”
The Calligaris company is all about modernity. Ko introduced the Interactive Totem, a high-tech software where clients can design their own furniture—clients may choose the color, texture and even the type of material. Clients may also use the totem to create a 3D model of their home to see if the furniture they’re buying would fit just perfectly.
According to Mr. Calligaris, they made the totem to provide utmost convenience for their clients, “Sometimes the client can’t imagine, they can’t visualize.” Ko said that Calligaris is the only brand they have with this kind of technology, “They’re very innovative and they want to keep on improving.”
Calligaris is distributed in 90 countries and based in Manzano, Italy. The brand has been in the business of home furnishings since 1923. It’s known for its innovative furnishings such as the GAMERA Chair made from one-piece polyamide shell suitable for indoor or outdoor use; the LAM table, a harmonious amalgam of metal and wood available in fixed-length or extending versions; and the modular URBAN sofa, which offers multiple configurations to fit unique needs.
Apart from the stylish designs of their furniture, Mr. Calligaris said that they make sure that the pieces serve their purpose as well, “The design is not only style but there are parts that are intended to be functional.”
