MANILA- A new social media campaign launched by BBDO Guerrero could finally make it up to the most influential band of all time for their forgettable 1966 Manila visit.

Former Beatles drummer Ringo Starr just released a new album entitled “Postcards from Paradise” and has asked his fans to send him postcards of images they considered to be paradise via social media.

As the brainchild of “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” tourism campaign, BBDO’s chief creative officer David Guerrero quickly spotted the opportunity to invite Starr back to the Philippines by showing that it is indeed paradise in the country.

Headlining the campaign is Filipino rock icon Ely Buendia, asking Beatles fans across the country to start sending postcards to Ringo of inspiring places in the Philippines with hashtag #postcardsfromparadise in this two-minute spot.

It was a hard day’s night at Manila back in 1966 for the Beatles when they arrived from Tokyo for a two-concert stop – so hard in fact that none of them has ever come back to the country since.

The band had a remarkable turnout, with 80,000 fans at the Rizal Stadium representing the largest crowd the Beatles has ever played for in a single day.

But things rapidly deteriorated the day after the concert when they were unceremoniously thrown out of the Philippines for reportedly snubbing the Philippine First Lady for a scheduled visit at the presidential palace.
