JAPAN — Unless you’re a mechanic, I don’t think someone has ever seen or dared touch a vehicle’s engine. We don’t only want to avoid burning our fingers from a possibly hot engine, we don’t also want to get our hands dirty from the motor oil dousing it.

Honda, the world’s largest engine manufacturer, wanted to change that. So together with Dentsu Inc. Tokyo, Honda came up with ‘Honda. Beautiful Engines.’. From a cold and dirty image, engines were turned into quirky, bright and beautiful artworks—nothing like we’ve seen them before.

These artworks were turned into posters, an opening movie for Honda’s Motor Show, a website, and a book which won the Grande in Design Lotus for Books and Publications in the recent Asia Pacific ADFEST 2014.
