MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The continued expansion of the Globe Group’s services has sped up the digital transformation of Filipinos’ lives, making it easier for customers to fulfill their daily tasks and pursue new and enriching experiences.

Globe is the country’s leading digital solutions platform, with major interests in telecommunications, fintech, digital marketing solutions, venture capital funding for startups, entertainment, and virtual healthcare.

While the company has been making full use of innovations and leading technology to ensure connectivity at home, its portfolio has also diversified to serve the growing needs of its business and enterprise clients.

Just recently, Globe announced a data center partnership with ST Telemedia Global Data Centres and Ayala Corporation. Through this joint venture, Globe is fast-tracking upgrades to its data center services to meet the growing demand from MSME and corporate clients across various industries.

Since 2001, Globe’s data centers have been known for being globally competitive, advanced, standard-compliant, and having highly secure facilities offering world-class data, network, telecommunication, and IT services ranging from carrier-neutral colocation space, managed security, mission-critical applications, and cloud solutions.

“Digital tools and services have become indispensable for today’s customers, and nothing less than a comprehensive digital solutions platform will be able to serve their needs best. The goal is always to empower and uplift Filipinos’ lives, and our continued investments in tech and high-growth enterprises are making that happen,” said Globe President and CEO Ernest Cu.

Globe recorded another world first for its flagship telco business this June, as it completed the deployment of a new series of antennas that enables the acceleration of 4G and the evolution of 5G technology.

This effectively boosts the telco’s network capabilities while ensuring greater energy efficiency. The deployment complements Globe’s aggressive and accelerated 5G rollout, with 380 new sites fired up in the first quarter of the year.

Globe is also exploring the use of space-based broadband technology, while its wholly-owned corporate venture builder 917Ventures is also looking at new ways to support local businesses and strengthen virtual connectivity via the metaverse.

Cu said Web 3.0, or 3rd-generation Internet, will change the way people and organizations use the web. It is characterized by the decentralization of data networks and the absence of a governing body, allowing anyone to participate. It is also expected to further push the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain and cryptocurrency.

“Globe plays a vital role in the country’s socio-economic development, we must continue to explore new opportunities in areas such as the metaverse, and constantly study other growing ecosystems for the benefit of our stakeholders,” said Cu.

Globe’s tech investments and partnerships are in line with its commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly UN SDG No. 9, which highlights the roles of infrastructure and innovation as crucial drivers of economic growth and development.
