SINGAPORE — Homegrown financial services company Singlife will sponsor the SCC Rugby Academy, a non-profit and volunteer-run junior rugby club, until the end of 2024. The sponsorship will enable the SCC Rugby Academy to sustain its academy scholarship program, providing age-appropriate coaching, fitness training and exposure to the sport of rugby for Singaporean youths.
The SCC Rugby Academy scholarship is an integral part of the club’s ethos, which aims to give every child the chance to participate, compete and express a life-long love of the game regardless of their financial circumstances. The Academy collaborates with local schools to promote the sport, recruits budding players and gives them the opportunity to attend free weekly training sessions. The youths participate in international league games — with training kits and travel expenses fully paid for under the scholarship.

Scholars will train under the guidance of experienced national rugby team players with opportunities to advance to the senior team and have a once in a lifetime opportunity to represent the Singapore National Team. Currently, the program has over 20 players enrolled and is open to all Singaporean youths who may not have the financial means to access the sport.
