“Ibenta Mo Na Ang Gamit Mo, ‘Wag Lang Boto Mo” campaign rallies Filipinos to vote responsibly

MANILA – In a few days, over 54 million Filipinos will be casting their votes and shaping history as they decide on the country’s next set of leaders. During this time, it’s most important to remember the weight and responsibility each vote has in building our nation for fellow Filipinos. With this, OLX has been promoting responsible voting among Filipinos through its “Ibenta Mo Na Ang Gamit Mo, ‘Wag Lang Boto Mo” campaign.

Launched last April, this campaign aims to cultivate an informed and responsible electorate for the 2016 Philippine General Elections this May. It educates Filipinos on the value of their vote and its power to shape the future as well as encourages them to take part in spreading this message through online content and on-ground initiatives.

OLX recently released a video dissuading Filipinos from taking part in vote buying. The video has been seen over 800,000 times on Facebook and YouTube and shared over 100,000 times on social media. OLX has also transformed its yaman.olx.ph content platform as a space for information and discussion on the electorate process and political system.

OLX partnered with Rappler.com through an online series urging netizens to answer the question “What is your vote worth?”

OLX also engaged with citizens in high traffic locations in Metro Manila and Cebu. Confessional booths were set up in universities, malls, and bus terminals in the country where people were asked on key topics such as the role of the president and the value of their vote. Footage of individual confessions were recorded and will be used to create a video that will reveal insights on the Filipino.

“A true sign of democracy is being fully aware of the impact of each individual in shaping the nation. As enablers of win-win exchanges that improve the lives of Filipinos, we at OLX feel a responsibility for helping remind about the importance of our votes in forging our shared future. Regardless of the outcome after May 9, helping each other cultivate an informed electorate and clean elections are winning efforts for us all,” said Cris Concepcion, OLX.
