CANNES – Ogilvy & Mather London has taken home the first ever Grand Prix award of the 2016 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. The agency scooped the top award for its campaign, ‘Breathless Choir’ for Philips in Lions Health under the Pharma category.
‘Breathless Choir’ is a story about 18 people with respiratory problems. They form a choir with the help of Philips’ portable oxygen concentrator, the SimplyGo Mini, and celebrity choirmaster Gareth Malone.
Indian agency Medulla Communications scooped two Golds for its campaign ‘Last Words’ for the Indian Association of Palliative Care (IAPC). Other Gold winners were McCann Health Hong Kong, Havas Life Sao Paulo, and The Classic Partnership from UAE.

Another London agency was awarded Grand Prix under the Health and Wellness category. FCB Inferno received the top award for its campaign, ‘Project Literacy’ for Pearson. ‘Project Literacy’ was created to fight the increasing number of people who can’t read by housing the ‘Alphabet of Illiteracy’ which tells people about the issues concerning illiteracy and how the project is addressing each using the letters of the alphabet. This campaign also won another Gold under the Digital: Online Video medium.
Meanwhile, David Buenos Aires won two Gold Lions for ‘Manboobs’ a breast cancer awareness campaign for Macma. Pharma Grand Prix awardee, ‘Breathless Choir’ by Ogilvy & Mather London was also given a two Golds under Health and Wellness. Other Gold Lions awardees are FCB Chicago, Engine London, TBWA\Hakuhodo, and Colenso BBDO.
