MANILA – Asia Integrated Machine, INC. (AIM), a leading machinery and automation solution supplier, provides one-stop solutions for manufacturing firms – including processing, weighing, packaging, inspection, conveying, palletising and warehousing. It has partnered Universal Robots (UR) to meet the growing demand for robots in the Philippines. The partnership will see AIM deploy and offer customised automation solutions comprising end-effectors and accessories for UR’s collaborative robots (cobots).
Darrell Adams, Head of Southeast Asia and Oceania at Universal Robots, highlighted the importance of automation and artificial intelligence (AI) in supporting the flourishing national infrastructure plans in the Philippines. Trailing behind its ASEAN counterparts, the Philippines was ranked by the International Federation of Robotics as having one of the lowest robot density rates in the region. Its robot density of three industrial robots installed per 10,000 employees in 2016, lags behind Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia with robot densities of 488 units, 45 units, 34 units and 5 units respectively. Despite this, UR takes an optimistic outlook towards the future of robots in the Philippines, with a strong adoption of cobots in main industries such as automotive, electronics and fast-moving consumer goods.
UR encourages Filipino manufacturers to expedite their adoption of cobots, in order to stay competitive as the economy slows down amid COVID-19. To encourage adoption, UR offers free webinars on cobot technology to better support its partners, local companies and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the Philippines.
AIM, being UR’s distributor in the Philippines since 2018, has been instrumental in growing UR’s presence in the country.
Albert W. Wang, AIM President, says: “AIM focuses on meeting customers’ changing needs for new equipment and technology to address growing manufacturing challenges, such as rising operational and manpower costs. We wanted to be part of the UR family due to its extensive experience in automated and collaborative assembly operations which will certainly revolutionise our automation offerings to clients.”
“Our work with companies such as Nestlé, Unilever and Jollibee Foods Corp puts us in the best position to ensure current and potential UR end-users can integrate their UR cobots with cutting-edge tools to suit their specific business needs. We are confident this will also allow us to expand our customer base and support automation needs of firms in several sectors.”
