MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Creative agency TBWA\SMP swept the 25th annual Agency of the Year Awards, including the top prize of Network Agency of the Year, for an 11th record-setting time. Presented by the Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies of the Philippines (4As), the evening also saw the Disruption Agency claim wins for Next Gen Planner, Next Gen Creative, Brand Experience Excellence in Creativity & Effectiveness, Brand Experience Excellence in Creativity & Innovation, and Best in Industry Leadership & Community Service.
At an event that saw industry luminaries, celebrities, and invited guests converge at The Fifth at Rockwell to celebrate “The Award That Matters,” team TBWA was, somewhat fittingly, situated at Table 11.
TBWA\SMP Chief Creative Officer and Chairman Melvin Mangada described the wins as being, “beyond unprecedented…from the time TBWA brought home our first plate in 2003, we never imagined that we would be here, two decades later, trying to find words to properly express our surprise and gratitude!”
Since being founded in 2001, TBWA\SMP has grown into the country’s most-awarded shop, servicing clients such as Alaska, Del Monte, Dito, JTI, Oishi, McDonald’s, Nissan, and more. Having initiated a leadership restructuring last year to take on the challenges of a post-pandemic world, this latest medal haul is an affirmation of the Agency’s ability to blend Disruptive creativity with business effectiveness.
According to Catuira, who’s witnessed the Agency’s two-decade growth, it is precisely the regular infusion of fresh talent, exemplified by the Next Gen Planner and Creative trophies for Jean Arboleda and Ryan Caidic, respectively, that empowers TBWA to reach its goals, while simultaneously striving for ever-greater heights.
“Our people are our greatest strength,” said Catuira. “So we are naturally proud of what they have accomplished and are continuing to accomplish. It has always been our privilege to provide our clients with what they need, pushing the work as far as it can go, and then going even further. That’s what makes this industry so fun, and nights like this, so significant.”
