Arnold Arre is known for graphic novels The Mythology Class, winner of the National Book Award in the Comics Category, Ang Mundo ni Andong Agimat, Trip to Tagaytay, Martial Law Babies, Halina Filipina, After Eden, and his animation film Milkyboy, award winner at the 25th Gawad CCP Para Sa Alternatibong Pelikula, the 7th Animahenasyon Festival, and the 30th Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival.
ABOUT THE WORK
I strive to bring attention to Filipino myths and folklore in my art so that the young generation can appreciate and learn from them. As a child I often heard stories from the elderly about how there are spirits that protect the mountains and that has always fascinated me. This drawing is my interpretation of those tales. The patterns and costumes of these two characters are based on Bagobo and Mandaya textile designs.

Rob Cham is a comics creator, illustrator, and friend. You can check out his work on robcham.me or follow him on different social media platforms @robcham
ABOUT THE WORK
Lost is my second graphic novel, a follow up to my 2015 release, Light. They’re both stand-alone stories, but Lost was made with the idea that it would be the Yang to Light’s Yin. This page is the first page I worked on, but also kind of the last time where you see these characters kind of happy, or looking forward to going towards the unknown.
JOHN ED DE VERA
Traffic Congestion
Paper Cut
15” X 20”
John Ed De Vera is a creative director for design at TBWA\SMP. The UST Fine Arts Major has won a number of awards. Not bad for a guy who took up Advertising just because it sounded better than Nutrition and Dietetics. Paper craft is an obvious hobby, which explains the perforation cutter in his bag.
ABOUT THE WORK
For their July 2016 cover, Esquire Philippines invited me to illustrate traffic congestion. Each element was drawn on a bond paper, transferred on special paper and individually cut by hand. The grayscale cutouts were then mounted on top of each other, depending on their layout and arrangement similar to the process of making papier tole. The more protruded the elements were, the more shadows they would create, adding dimensionality to the whole image.
PANN LIM
MetalFest Gong 2016
Posters, websites, merchandise
Pann Lim is the co-founder and creative director of Kinetic Singapore, K+, Holycrap.sg and Rubbish Famzine. He has earned over 450 industry awards, including the President’s Design Award, Gold Pencils at the New York One Show, Cannes Lions and D&AD. He has judged at the Singapore Creative Circle Awards, the Effie Awards, Malaysia Kancil Awards, Miami Clio Awards, Webby Awards, and D&AD Awards.
ABOUT THE WORK
For many creatives, winning a Gold, Silver, or Bronze at award shows means winning a ‘metal.’ Kinetic Design reimagined Singapore’s annual creative award show, the Gong Show, as a ‘metal’ celebration titled “MetalFest Gong 2016.” Borrowing from heavy metal’s visual style, tone, and manner, the MetalFest call to entry campaign played up creatives’ obsession with collecting metals. Participating agencies were recast as heavy metal bands, with their logos redesigned in that vein.

Created just in time for Christmas.
