NEW YORK – London International Awards (LIA) has announced the names of the first jury presidents for the 2017 awards. This select group of industry leaders will preside over their respective juries in Las Vegas. Each jury peruses all entries in their respective media. They will debate and deliberate, choosing the work that will rise to the top and bring home metal.
“In the business of creativity, it really is all about the people. Our jury presidents are chosen for their expertise, skill, fairness and because they’ve been the force behind award-winning work throughout their careers, regardless of gender or ethnicity,” stated Barbara Levy, President of LIA.
“We are very proud to announce the names of the first jury presidents, as they are a highly recognized group of people with the ability and experience required to lead the juries in their respective disciplines.”
We look forward to announcing the jury presidents for The Influencers, The NEW and Production & Post Production and Music Video in the next few weeks.
Below are the esteemed creatives that have agreed to Chair to-date:
Branded Entertainment
Fred Raillard – Chief Creative Officer, FRED & FARID
“Looking forward to heading the Branded Entertainment category at LIA. This category is one of the main directions our industry is taking for the future. We will reward the most innovative, daring productions.”
Design | Package Design | Verbal Identity
Bobby C. Martin Jr. – Founding Partner, OCD | The Original Champions of Design
“I’m honored to be invited to be jury president for Design and Package Design of the prestigious LIA awards. It’s more important than ever to support the arts and celebrate those striving for excellence in design. Looking forward to working with a great team of distinguished judges to first debate, then recognize the work that is making a difference across the world.”
Digital
Per Pedersen – Chairman of Global Creative Council, Grey Global
“LIA has a special place in my heart as a creative award when it comes to recognizing global creative excellence. It’s a big deal for anyone to put a LIA statue on the award shelf. I’m proud and honored to be tapped as Jury President in Digital at this year’s LIA and will do my best to maintain the high standards of judging that has made LIA one of the most amazing award shows in the world.”
Health & Pharma
Jeremy Perrott – Global Chief Creative Officer, McCann Health
“London International Awards not only recognises the outstanding work being achieved but the quality of the craft it takes to connect communities, governments, institutions, patients, doctors and the many others who rely now on health to be informed, educated and connected. This new festival is what we need in our industry to continue raising the standards, expectations and goals so that we do not stagnate or become mundane.”
Integration
Tham Khai Meng – Worldwide Co-Chairman & CCO, Ogilvy & Mather
“It is an honor to be invited to be the president of the jury at LIA. I have the highest admiration for Barbara Levy who is giving so much back to the industry by sending our young talent to her Creative LIAisons program.”
Music & Sound
Abi Leland – Company Director, Leland Music
“I am thrilled to be heading up this category for LIA this year. One of the most common comments I hear people say about music and sound is that it’s ‘so subjective’, which is something I could debate for too long! So I will relish the opportunity to delve deeply into discussions with other experienced and passionate people in this area of the industry whilst judging international work of the highest standard.”
Non-Traditional
Mark Tutssel – Global Chief Creative Officer, Leo Burnett Worldwide and Creative Chairman of Publicis Communications
“Non-Traditional is a glimpse into the future of our industry. Work that is so unique, new, and pure that it cannot be labeled in a conventional way. A brave idea that makes people sit up and take notice. It’s a category that awards innovative and ground-breaking thinking. It is a great honour to lead the 2017 LIA Non-Traditional Jury. The jurors and I look forward to discovering the magical, future-facing ideas that impact culture and business growth. We will seek out ambitious brands that use creativity as a weapon, the fearless pioneers who will lead us into the future and charter new territory for the industry.”
Print | Poster | Billboard |Ambient
David Guerrero – Creative Chairman, BBDO Guerrero
“The famous LIA winged statue is a much sought after presence on agency shelves. But more importantly, LIA should be commended for the focus it has put on young talent. For training, educating and getting up-front exposure to industry practitioners in the extraordinary venue of Las Vegas. This all means the atmosphere encourages jurors to stay focused on the quality of the judging. And means that success in this show is very much down to skill – and not luck.”
Radio & Audio
Larissa Kirschner – VP / Creative Director / Writer, Publicis New York
“When I was asked if I would be this year’s LIA Radio Jury President, I thought I was being punked by my last year’s judging team. I mean how could such a talented, witty, sardonic, meticulous and hysterical group of writers, engineers, and overall craftsmen and women think I was worthy of wrangling such a bunch of audio geeks? And then I remembered it must be because I’ve never met such like-minded, radio-faced, misfits who so thoroughly enjoyed listening to thousands of entries while lying in the Las Vegas sun and losing boat loads of cash at the crap tables. Seriously, I am beyond honored. Nothing gets me more excited about advertising and the radio medium than a few days with people and work I admire! Thanks to LIA for allowing me to don those golden headphones and get all judgmental in great company.”
TV/Cinema/Online Film
Toygar Bazarkaya – Chief Creative Officer of the Americas, Havas
“Film is one of the most immersive forms of storytelling we know. Since social media embraced moving images, film has been experiencing a renaissance. Film is becoming democratized which changes the way we look at it and the way we produce it – everything from timelines and budgets to distribution and channels. There is only one thing that has not changed: great films are based on great ideas and stories. I am honored to be the president for this category and I look forward to working with the jury to select the most groundbreaking work.”
Judging will take place at Encore Las Vegas from the 29th September through 7th October.
The LIA 2017 entries system is open for entries.
