MANILA – Our teachers in school sometimes seem so underappreciated. Often acting as second parents, guardians, and stewards of learning, many children spend more hours with teachers than even their own parents.

This past March 13, as has become a tradition when McDonald’s Philippines celebrates National Breakfast Day, the fastfood giant released an online video, this time paying tribute to teachers. The main subject of the video is Mrs. Luzviminda Santiago, a public school teacher who has dedicated 30 years of her life imparting lessons and providing support to her students. As someone who has helped usher new beginnings to countless children day in and day out, Mrs. Santiago is set to welcome a new chapter of her own as she enters retirement.

“Through Mrs. Santiago’s story, we hope to inspire everyone to embrace their new beginnings,” notes Margot Torres, McDonald’s Philippines Executive Vice President and Deputy Managing Director. “Kasama ninyo ang McDonald’s sa pagsalubong ng bagong umaga.”

“While the focus of the OLV is a teacher, we want to emphasize that there are other people like Mrs. Santiago who have helped others,” says Christina Lao, McDonald’s Philippines Marketing Director. “It can be your mentor, coach, parent, boss, or even your best friend that have always reminded you that every morning is a new beginning.”

Already accumulating 6 million views on Facebook alone, “Good Morning, Teacher!” is the latest campaign by Leo Burnett Manila for McDonald’s Philippines.
