MANILA – Over the years, Sony has come to be a household name in providing high-quality devices to consumers. In line with their mission to inspire curiosity, Sony Philippines partnered with Save the Children and held an experiential workshop for its beneficiaries as part of its Sony Science Workshop.

Recognizing that science plays a major role in our future, Sony gave participants the opportunity to take part in an experiential workshop envisioned to spark their creativity and motivate them to acquire skills needed to make a better society. The workshop was held in Mind Museum in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

During the workshop, Sony representatives demonstrated how its popular headphones worked and taught kids how to create their own pair using only common and recycled items such as plastic water bottles and milk cartons. The activity hoped to encourage them to find beauty in ordinary things and discover their ability to create new objects using every day material.

The “Make Your Own Headphones” workshop is part of the Sony Science Program that aims to promote children’s interest in science and science education through exciting workshops and one-of-a-kind activities. These activities form the foundation of Sony’s CSR operations, and are currently held in and outside of Japan as part of Sony Science Program. The workshops were conducted by Sony Philippines employees and volunteers who also helped participants in creating these gadgets from scratch.

“Through the years, Sony has continued to support science education, as we find value in promoting children’s interest in science and see this as crucial for the development of our society,” says Mr. Alvin de Vera, Senior Director from the Brand and Communications Division of Sony Philippines. “Through our programs with the Save the Children organization, we hope to inspire kids and show them that anyone can be an inventor or innovator. We want to empower them with knowledge and skills so they may be prepared to lead us tomorrow.”

Sony Philippines will continue to have workshops and activities for the youth, allowing them to learn about the different scientific principles and technology through Sony products and services.
