MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Queer Prom is coming for the second time on June 29 at the Space at One Ayala Level 5 in Makati.

Youth-led nonprofit organization Queer Safe Spaces (QSS) is set to host the second Queer Prom, which aims to provide a safe and inclusive space where everyone can be themselves without fear of judgment or discrimination.

“Queer Prom is a safe space for our authentic self and a second chance to reclaim our prom experience as queer individuals,” QSS Co-founder Roanne Carreon said.

Roanne said traditional prom events often reinforce heteronormative standards, making LGBTQIA+ individuals feel excluded or unable to fully express themselves, thus stressing the need for a safe space for Filipino queer people.

Performers include singer-songwriter Nica del Rosario, pop duo Leanne and Naara, drag artists Salmo Nella, and Precious Paula Nicole, as well as DJ Hanj Mallen.

The event will also feature internet personality Amira Alawi.

Tickets are priced at PHP969 apiece. Each ticket comes with a Prom Kit and an Event Passport, which provides access to all booths, including the grazing table (free food), mobile bar (free drink), glambot, photobooth, brand booths with freebies, and more.

Doors open at 6:00 pm.

All proceeds will support QSS in fulfilling its advocacies and operational needs, as well as in building the Safe Space Center — envisioned as the flagship physical institution addressing the diverse needs of the Filipino LGBTQIA+ community.

The event is co-sponsored by TikTok Philippines, H&M, lyf, Citadines, and Molly’s Playroom.
