CANNES — At the last edition of the 2017 Cannes Lions Awards Shows, several overall and special awards were given away.
BBDO Worldwide won Network of the Year, while Clemenger BBDO Melbourne is Agency of the Year, driven by highly-awarded campaigns like ‘Meet Graham’ for the Transport Accident Commission. Meanwhile, WPP is Holding Company of the Year.

On the brand side, Burger King won Creative Marketer of the Year with brilliant Grand Prix wins from ‘Google Home of the Whopper’ to its ‘Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Aviano’ print series as well as other metal-winning campaigns.

This year, David Droga was honored with the Lion of St. Mark, which is given as a lifetime achievement award to those who have made outstanding contributions to the creative and advertising community as well as to the craft. Droga made waves in the industry, holding top creative positions in the Publicis Network and Saatchi & Saatchi in Singapore and London. He opened his own agency, Droga5, which had more of its fair share of award-winning campaigns like ‘Rule Yourself’ for Under Armour, ‘Jay-Z Decoded’ for rapper Jay-Z and Bing, ‘After Hours Athlete’ for Puma, and ‘The Great Schlep’ for Obama for America among others. Likewise, Droga5 has added another Independent Agency of the Year award to its shelf, making it a three-year consecutive winner.

Screen Writer, Director, Campaigner & Co-Founder of Red Nose Day, Richard Curtis, collected the LionHeart Award for his continued and significant involvement in charitable initiatives, including Comic Relief, Red Nose Day, Live 8 and the Make Poverty History campaign.

The Grand Prix for Good, awarded to non-profit and charitable organizations, was given to Ogilvy New York and Amnesty International for ‘Refugee Nation’.
