Riding the wave of momentum created by Mabining Mandirigma, a steampunk musical on the heroic life of Apolinario Mabini, Tanghalang Pilipino, the resident theater company of the Cultural Center of the Philippines, with the support of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, returns with another landmark musical that chronicles the life of one of the most significant heroic figures in Philippine history: Aurelio Tolentino, a seditious playwright and actor who, together with Andres Bonifacio and Macario Sakay, founded the Teatro Porvenir. Aurelio Sedisyoso, a rock sarswela, opens Tanghalang Pilipino’s 31st Season with the theme “Freedom Writers, Freedom Fighters”

Playing at the theater named after its protagonist, Aurelio Sedisyoso runs at the CCP Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino (CCP Little Theater) from September 1 – 17, 2017 with Friday shows at 8pm, Saturday shows at 3pm and 8pm, and Sunday shows at 3:00pm.

As a sequel to Mabining Mandirigma, which focused on the Mabini-Aguinaldo conflict in the second phase of the revolution, Aurelio Sedisyoso dramatizes the conflicts in Philippine society in the period between 1902 and 1907, which, unknown to many, constitutes the third phase of the revolution, and the years from 1908 to 1915 which represents the last chapter in the life of Aurelio Tolentino. It investigates and analyses the events in this crucial period of Philippine history from the point of view of an outstanding personality of the period whom the Americans feared – Aurelio Tolentino.
