BOGOTA, COLOMBIA — Colombia is one of the world’s most visited places annually, and these travelers are not human. We refer to the thousands of migratory species that find this country an ideal place to feed and take refuge, making it one of the places with the most migratory routes in the animal kingdom. It appears that animals know something that we, humans, have not yet discovered.
Thus, inspired by this, the first tourism promotion campaign was created, which turns migratory animals such as birds, fish, marine mammals, and even insects into guides who tell the world all about the beauty, magic, and biodiversity that make Colombia a unique destination.
To turn these migratory animals into spokespeople for the country of beauty, a data collection exercise was conducted on three fronts: first, through a database of bird sightings; second, by trackers installed on migratory species; and third, with the collaboration of foundations specialized in gathering this information.
Once this information reaches the database, the arrival of migratory species to the country is recorded, and an alert is issued informing about their place of origin and destination. Then, through partnerships with online travel agencies (OTAs), Colombia sends messages from the perspective of the animals to people around the world, inviting them to discover what they already know about the country of beauty. Thus, an incredible campaign is born that, in addition to convincing international tourists to visit Colombia, proves that when nature calls, humans also respond. Thus, an incredible campaign is born—one that not only convinces international tourists to visit Colombia but also proves that when nature calls, humans respond.
Through such initiatives, Colombia reaffirms its commitment to conserving its ecosystems and promoting sustainable tourism to protect the areas that attract species from all over the world and offer tourists authentic experiences in harmony with nature.
The exosphere: a window to Colombia in the heart of Nevada
To bring this campaign to life, the country of beauty will be featured on the Exosphere, the exterior of Sphere in Las Vegas, from November 25 to December 1. The activation will showcase the most incredible corners of Colombia’s six tourist regions from the perspective of the migratory birds that visit the country each year.
This activation will offer millions of international and local tourists visiting Las Vegas during the festive season a glimpse into Colombia’s beauty as a tourist destination, highlighting its position as one of the most biodiverse countries in the world.
As part of the activation on the Exosphere, the public can interact with a QR code that will take them to a website where they can learn more about Colombia’s offerings and, for a limited time, access exclusive promotions to travel to the country. These offers will be available during Black Friday and Cyber Monday, providing a unique incentive for travelers to follow the migratory species and discover Colombia.
A call to discover the country of beauty
Through an innovative and inspiring initiative, Colombia listened to Mother Nature to inspire American travelers to follow the routes of migratory birds. Once again, Colombia stands out as a global benchmark in nature tourism and reinforces its important role in the global migratory routes of animals.
With this unprecedented campaign, the country of beauty invites the world to spread its wings and discover the favorite place for thousands of species. To follow the journey of these animals and learn more about Colombia’s mega-biodiversity, visit colombia.travel/es.
