Consistent condom use is low among Filipino males because of inadequate access. They also think it decreases sexual pleasure and lessens emotional connection. They also experience stigma when buying condoms in retail stores.

The profile of people newly diagnosed with HIV is increasingly and continuously becoming younger and younger. In December 2017 alone, 992 Filipinos were diagnosed with HIV, with more than  80% coming from the 15-34 year-old age group.

To create awareness among the said age group about HIV infection and prevention, communication needs to be light and fun to keep them interested.

During International Condom Day, Red Whistle, the country’s pioneer HIV advocacy group presented Frottage, a one-night only exhibit at the Nova Gallery, La Fuerza Compound.

Ten artworks were created to illustrate ways for couples to have safe sex without condoms like: Axillary Intercourse (the penis is inserted in another person’s armpit), Intergluteal Sex (the penis rubbed between the gluteal  crack), Intermammary Fuck or Titty Fuck (the penis is rubbed between boobs).

The exhibit also featured familiar non-penetrative ways like foot job, fingering, and jacking off.

The guests were able to experience the exhibit through artvibe,  an interactive tool that brings artworks to life.

The exhibit presented artworks by world-renowned Filipino painters,
Christina Dy and Kiko Escora.
