Chinese torture, anyone?
After a week of torturous screenings and viewings, only four entries survived to win Gold from the LongXi Grand Awards jury last December. Unfortunately, the tough jury decided not to award the Grand Prix this year.
JWT Hong Kong’s “Let It Out” TVC for Kimberly Clark was the odds-on favorite for the Grand Prix but it crawled away with the only Gold in TV category.
 Bates Taipei Press won two Golds for Kolin LCD and another for Polar Delight Frozen Dessert in Creative Craft category. In total, three Golds dropped into Bates Taipei’s pocket.
 JWT Hong Kong and Bates Taipei were the two biggest winners at LongXi Grand Awards 2007, a Chinese-language creative award dedicated to recognizing outstanding Chinese-language creative campaigns. JWT Hong Kong has been awarded a gold for its campaign for Kimberly Clark and Bates Taipei has been awarded three golds.
Thousands of entries were categorized by TV, Radio, Newspaper/Magazine and Poster/Outdoor. Kuala Lumpur played host to last year’s show, which has been dubbed the “Olympics of Chinese language advertising.”
Creative directors from Hong Kong, Taipei, Beijing, Shanghai, Xiameng, Urumchi and Kuala Lumpur comprised the jury. The judges made their final decisions at Malaysia’s The One Academy of Communication Design.
Zayn Khan, country head of Ogilvy Malaysia and Jimmy Lam, founder of Long Xi Awards, welcomed the crowd. Deputy Minister of Higher Education YB Datuk Ong Tee Keat urged the Malaysian creatives to work harder for the honor.
