MANILA – The Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP) invites all to the 25th National Public Relations Congress on September 27 and 28, 2018 at Shangri-La at the Fort with the theme “Truth or Trolls: PR in the Age of Disinformation.”
PRSP president Ritzi Villlarico Ronquillo, APR said this year’s Congress theme highlights the key role of PR in reputation management, and in building harmonious relationships and a positive brand image through authenticity, trust and truth.
“This year’s National PR Congress reaffirms the role of PR professionals as agents of positive change who uphold the ethics, values and standards of the professional practice of PR, above the din of random disruption,” she said. “September is National PR Month, and delegates to this annual gathering of the country’s best will be part of the history of the profession as the National PR Congress marks a quarter of a century upholding the profession and its standards.”
National PR Congress chairman Cherie Mijares, APR, group corporate communication director of DDB Group Philippines, said the event comes at a challenging time with troll accounts, ‘click’ armies and fake news becoming a nightmare for brands and corporates who end up on the wrong side of misinformation.
“The Congress will re-examine the role of PR in building trust and reputation in this post-truth society,” she said. “As PR strategists, how do we respond when our companies and clients are maligned or draw flak from netizens? How do we seamlessly blend all possible means to communicate that technology continues to give us?
“To address this, she continued, “Congress sessions will cover delegates’ various learning needs, from communication skills for PR professionals like cyber trends and PR, digital crisis management, ethics and governance, strategy and brand citizenship, content marketing, leadership, to industry health check and trends.”
The 25th National Public Relations Congress will also celebrate two milestones this year: its silver anniversary of advancing the discipline of professional public relations through collaboration and learning; and the celebration of September as National Public Relations Month by virtue of a presidential declaration.
