MANILA – The 3 day event of the Internet and Mobile Marketing Association of the Philippines (IMMAP), DigiCon 2018: Experience Extraordinary, ignited the coveted Boomerang Awards with its theme “Fight For Innovation” wherein over 300 entries were chosen all over the country, on October 5, 2018 at the Forum 3, Philippine International Convention Center (PICC).
Originally launched in 2008, The Boomerangs has honored Philippine advertisers and agencies whose campaigns and programs exemplified digital marketing effectiveness. It harnesses digital media’s potential for economic development and provides the necessary tools and information that integrated marketing professionals need for better communication decisions. It is a member of the international group the Mobile Marketing Association.
This year’s theme is “Fight For Innovation”, with its Head of Jury and the Chief Creative of J. Walter Thompson Philippines is Dave Ferrer. Alongside the esteemed line up of juries are: Rey Tiempo, Chief Creative Officer of Y&R, Oliver Rabatan, Director, Golden Arches Dev. Leo Burnett Group Manila won Gold under the Food Service Category with their campaign for McDonald’s Philippines’ “MCDELIVERY PIN”. The campaign also won the night’s special awards for “Best in Show” and “Best in Strategic Excellence”. The “MCDELIVERY PIN” campaign was to put an innovative twist to its delivery services, going out of its way to reach Filipinos during Undas. The campaign also won 1 silver for Effectiveness under the category of Sales.
Manulife Philippines won Gold for their “GradMaker: Investing in your child’s future, made easy” campaign under the Banking and Financial Products sub-category of Program/Service. A campaign about investing for the future of your children using the Manulife app. They also won the special award “Excellence in Effectiveness” for the same campaign.
The Group of Five Creative Concepts, Inc. also won Gold under the Innovation and Bleeding Edge sub-category of Digital Craft with their campaign Marawi 360: Inside the Warzone. They also won the special award “Good Boomerang” for the campaign. Experiencing firsthand what has been left by the battles in Marawi, and the challenges faced by the Philippine military through the region’s first-ever, virtual-reality war documentary.
This year’s Digital Agency of the Year is Leo Burnett Group Manila. Headed by Raoul Panes, Chief Creative Officer of Leo Burnett Group Manila.
The Advertiser of the Year goes to McDonald’s Philippines, headed by their Managing Director, Margot Torres.
