CHINA – The One Show Greater China Awards unveils its 2018 winners tonight. ADK Taiwan, Ogilvy, and ‘52 Mayors of Danzhai’ by Ogilvy Beijing come out as the big winners, winning Agency of the Year, Network of the Year, and Best of Show, respectively.
The One Show Greater China Awards 2018 is the top regional creative awards show for the Greater China area (Including Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) launched by The One Club. It is directly run by The One Club and supervised by The One Club’s global board of directors.
Kevin Swanepoel, Chief Executive Officer of the One Club for Creativity, introduced the One Show in China five years ago, seeing opportunity to bring one of the world’s most prestigious creative advertising awards show to this thriving country.
The One Show Greater China Awards judging was held in Shanghai this week. All the works submitted were judged by an international level and high caliber jury panel with international standard and local cultural insight. The jury was tasked to judge the entries on creativity (the creative idea), on innovation, then on craft and execution of the idea.
One Show Greater China Awards 2018 Jury
ADK Taiwan emerged as the Agency of the Year, winning four Gold awards under Interactive, Cross-Platform, Design, and Direct Marketing categories for their CSR campaign, ‘Rhythm of Love Wall’ for 7-Eleven. The campaign aimed to encourage people to donate their loose change by developing hands made of aluminum alloy and thick silicon that applause each time they insert coins.
Wanda Group and Ogilvy Beijing’s ’52 Mayors of Danzhai’ emerges as the Best of Show. The Best of Show is selected from the top scoring campaigns across the show’s categories. In 2014, the Wanda Group saw an opportunity to lift Danzhai and its people out of poverty and showcase the true beauty of the area. Each week, a new mayor takes office – with 52 mayors serving the people throughout the year – to come up and implement plans to sustain the Danzhai.
The Red Pencil is given to ‘AI Inherits the Great Wall Miracle’ for Intel China. The award is given the most innovative work of the year which uses the latest technology and leads the trends of innovation.
Print & Outdoor category gives out two Golds, one Silver, two Bronzes, and one Merit awards. Ogilvy Hong Kong’s ‘Shuttle’ campaign for Birdland (Hong Kong) Ltd. and Cheil Worldwide’s ‘Block Out The Chaos: World Leaders/Football Managers’ both took home Gold.
The Film & Video category sees three Golds, four Silvers, five Bronzes, and 13 Merit awards. ‘Three Minutes’ from Apple and TBWA\Media Arts Lab bagged two Golds under the Online Film & Video and Viral Video categories. 180.ai’s campaign ‘Joy Story: JOY and Heron’ for Jingdong also took home Gold.
The Interactive category hands out one Gold and Bronze, and two Merits. Moreover, Cross-Platform category comprises two Golds, two Silvers, four Bronzes, and five Merits. Beijing’s ’52 Mayors of Danzhai’ campaign and ADK Taiwan and BYE BYE World Tokyo’s CSR campaign ‘Rhythm of Love Wall’ for 7-Eleven bag Gold awards for Experiential Marketing.
The campaign, ‘Alzheimer’s Disease Font’ for Alzheimer’s Disease Chinese by mcgarrybowen of Shanghai and Hanyi of Beijing, and ‘Rhythm of Love Wall’ from ADK Taiwan and BYE BYE World Tokyo grab Gold awards under the Design category. The category also distributes one Silver and four Merits.
‘Three Minutes’ for Apple China by Apple and TBWA\Media Arts Lab and a campaign from W Shanghai win Gold under the Branded Entertainment category. The category also presents two Bronzes and four Merits.
The campaigns ‘Block Out The Chaos: World Leaders/Football Managers’ by Cheil Worldwide Hong Kong for JBL, ‘Three Minutes’ for Apple China by Apple and TBWA\Media Arts Lab, and ‘Joy Story: JOY and Heron’ by 180.ai win Gold awards under Craft. Four Silvers, five Bronzes, and nine Merits were also given out under the said category.
For the Direct Marketing category, the Gold award was given to the ‘‘Rhythm of Love Wall’ campaign from ADK Taiwan and BYE BYE World Tokyo. Two Bronzes and twelve Merits were also given out.
Meanwhile, the Innovation, Public Service & CSR, Mobile, and Social Media categories didn’t give out Gold Awards. The Innovation category has one Silver and Bronze, and three Merits. Public Service & CSR has one Silver, four Bronzes, and seven Merits. Mobile give out one Bronze and five Merits, while Social Media category sees two Silvers, three Bronzes, and three Merits.
