MANILA, PHILIPPINES – After launching the first Beauty & Personal Care Summit in Tagaytay on March 19 with the theme “Beauty that Cares,” Unilever Philippines is introducing a shampoo refilling station called All Things Hair Refillery.
Household hair products such as Tresemmé, Cream Silk, Dove, and Sunsilk are now available in refilling stations in three Ayala Malls: TriNoma, Glorietta, and Alabang Town Center for a limited time starting March 23 to April 14.
An effort to reduce packaging waste, the refillery also encourages bringing old shampoo containers and sachets for up-cycling. Refillable bottles are also available for P10.
“Purpose is at the core of our brands to ensure that we put our consumers first at the heart of everything we do,” said Dorothy Dee-Ching, Unilever Philippines’ Vice President for Personal Care.
This comes after Unilever has committed to making their plastic packaging 100% recyclable by 2025 by reducing the weight of the packaging it uses this decade by one third by 2020, and increase its use of recycled plastic content in its packaging to at least 25% by 2025.
“Our plastic packaging plays a critical role in making our products appealing, safe and enjoyable for our consumers. Yet it is clear that if we want to continue to reap the benefits of this versatile material, we need to do much more as an industry to help ensure it is managed responsibly and efficiently post consumer-use,” said Paul Polman, CEO of Unilever.
“To address the challenge of ocean plastic waste we need to work on systemic solutions – ones which stop plastics entering our waterways in the first place. We hope these commitments will encourage others in the industry to make collective progress towards ensuring that all of our plastic packaging is fully recyclable and recycled,” he added.
