This week, Busan, Korea will host the annual AD STARS – an advertising festival dedicated to combining creativity and cutting-edge technology.
Among the festivities, AD STARS will hold its yearly New Stars Ad Competition where creatives with less than three years of experience or under the age of 30 can compete with teams from all across the globe. This year, the competition will bring together 33 teams across 10 different countries. Among them are two teams from Wunderman Thompson Philippines; namely Team Libreng Pangarap consisting of Villarica Manuel and Zachary Lim, and Team Plus Ultra consisting of Bern Cordora and Irish Bautista. Two other teams from DDB and NuWorks will also compete.
The jury will consist of top talent from around the world bringing a diverse lens to judge work with. Jury picks include Kim Pick, ECD of VMLY&R; Keni Oda, Creative Director from Dentsu Inc.; Windy Wu of Meituan; and Gabor Spielmann, Creative Director and Partner of Kabooom.
The teams were selected after reviewing competitors online applications and their creative track records. Wunderman Thompson sent the four young creatives as part of an initiative to invest in local talent and showcase creative capabilities on an international stage. Through international competition, WT seeks to challenge their talent to elevate themselves to the global standard of work.
