Events: Moira Lang and Monster Jimenez to Host Swipe Write: Filmmaking Workshop in adobo creative hub

MANILA, Philippines– Two powerhouse names in the Philippine independent film industry are coming to the adobo creative hub to hone those who want to tell stories in film reels. Featuring award-winning screenwriter and producer Moira Lang, and producer Coreen “Monster” Jimenez, adobo magazine is holding a three-day bootcamp and producing movies: Swipe Write, happening on September 19, 23, and 25. 

 

Lang is the producer behind Lav Diaz’s Norte Hangganan ng Kasaysayan, which premiered at Cannes in 2013. She also produced the Cinemalaya film “Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros, and some of Star Cinema’s best loved films: Rory Quintos’ Anak and Olivia Lamasan’s In My Life.

Patay na si Hesus will be showing in adobo Creative Hub’s Swipe: Write Day 1
She is also one of the minds behind Smaller and Smaller Circles and Patay na si Hesus, which she considers noteworthy for bridging the language gap between Tagalog and Cebuano audiences; it will also kick-off the first day of Swipe Right.

Meanwhile, Jimenez, better known as “Monster,” is the producer of Treb Monteras’ Respeto, which garnered seven awards in Cinemalaya in 2017 including Best Picture, NETPAC Grand Prize and Audience Choice Award as well as countless awards abroad. She also produced and co-wrote Mario Cornejo’s Apocalypse Child, which will also be shown during the second day of Swipe Write. She also did the documentary “Kano: An American in His Harem.”

The three-day course will tackle everything from starting with ideas, crafting them into stories to pitching them to investors.
