How reliable is passion? Can pursuing passion be painful? And why do we need it to create great advertising?
These are the exact questions Sonal Dabral, Chief Creative Officer of Ogilvy South and South East Asia, and Vice Chairman of India Ogilvy wants to tackle as he discusses how passion can be a powerful tool for making effective campaigns.
Over his 30-year career, Dabral has been part of various branches of Ogilvy in Asia. He worked with well-renowned adman Piyush Pandey in the ‘90s for Ogilvy Mumbai as he helped drive the agency to become India’s number one creative agency.
Dabral eventually made his way to Malaysia, working for Ogilvy Kuala Lumpur where he bagged several awards domestically and internationally. He then arrived in Ogilvy Singapore, which was named number one in Creative Rankings in Asia as well as becoming the third most awarded office during Cannes Lions 2007 while under his wing. He was also once a TV host and scriptwriter for Bollywood, as well as doing some filmmaking on the side.
For his session in Spikes Asia 2019, he’ll be talking about the three things he loves the most — Advertising, Single Malts, and Blackjack. He shares both single malts and blackjack have a meditative effect for him, and that his genuine love for them enabled him to deepen his understanding of the two.
His passion for the drink and the game eventually made him realize similarities the two shared with the advertising industry, and helped him navigate his way around life and his career. These are the points he will share Thursday, September 26, 2019 at 12:30 pm at the Inspiration Stage in Suntec, Singapore.
