JWT Hong Kong beefs up creative with new ECD Sly Song

ASIA-PACIFIC – HONG KONG, JUNE 3, 2011 – Dennis Wong, JWT Hong Kong CEO, has announced the appointment of leading Asian creative director, designer and film director, Sylvester (Sly) Song as Executive Creative Director from July 1st. Song joins JWT from Y&R Hong Kong where he was the Regional Creative Director on the Colgate team.
 
In addition to Y&R, the Malaysian-born Song has worked at renowned agencies including, McCann Erickson, Ogilvy & Mather, Saatchi & Saatchi and Bates.
 
His 20 year career has taken him to Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong where he has created stunning work for some of the world’s biggest brands including: Coca-Cola, Nike, HSBC, Sony, Heineken, McDonald’s, Cathay Pacific, amongst others.
 
No stranger to JWT Hong Kong, he served as Senior Art Director at the agency from in the late 1990s.  Now, Song returns to oversee and raise the creative standard of the agency, working closely with Dennis Wong and the management team to further heighten JWT Hong Kong’s operation integration across all disciplines.

Song’s work has been recognized in local, regional and international award shows such as: Cannes, Clios, Mobius, Effies, New York Festival, London International Awards, AdFest, AWARD, Spikes and Kam Fan. He has served on the jury of the New York Festival and AD STARS.
 
Among some of Sly’s biggest accolades include the 2007 Gunn Report ranking of Song’s Cathay Pacific 60th Anniversary campaign as the 12th Most Awarded Commercial in the World. In 2008, Song was named “Creative Professional of the Year” by Pearl & Dean/MTR.
 
On appointing Song, Dennis Wong said, “With his extensive international experience and more than 10 years tenure in Hong Kong, Sly brings with him the best of both worlds of global perspective and local insights.
