ASIA-PACIFIC -JUNE 2011 – An award show that has free entry and a cash award of US$10,000 for Grand Prix winners. And did we mention that Neil French is judging? This is for real. AD STARS, the Busan International Advertising Festival, to be held on August 25 to 27 in Busan, South Korea, is free to enter. A cash award of US$10,000 will be given to the Grand Prix winners of each of the three main categories: Product/Service Ads, PSAs and Public Sector Brand Ads.
120 judges will sift through the entries in the preliminary online screening. An offline jury chaired by former WPP Worldwide Creative Director Neil French will convene in Busan for the final round of judging. Joining French in the offline jury are Leo Burnett Sydney’s Michael Canning, Y&R China’s Nils Andersson, Bates 141’s Sonal Dabral, Ogilvy & Mather Malaysia’s CK Tan, Casanova Pendrill’s Alejandro Ortiz, PostVisual’s Eun Ah Seol, Droga5 Sydney’s Sudeep Gohil, JWT SEA’s Tay Guan Hin, Kempertrautmann’s Christian Fritschem, BBDO Guerrero’s Brandie Tan, Cheil Worlwide’s Thomas Hong-Tack Kim, HS Ad’s Bo Hyun Hwang, Tribal DDB Shanghai’s Chris Jones, OgilvyOne India’s Graham Kelly, Y&R Indonesia’s Yerry Indrajaya, Innocean Worldwide’s Hye Jin Won, and TBWA Asia’s John Merriefield.
Themed "Future of Advertising", the festival features a conference featuring regional and international speakers, an exhibit, Beach AD Night and Young Stars competition.

AD STARS will be held at the Haeundae Grand Hotel at Haeundae Beach in Busan, a beautiful coastal city best known for the Pusan International Film Festival and the largest harbor city in Korea.
