ASIA-PACIFIC – JULY 26, 2011 – Ogilvy & Mather Singapore has confirmed that Robert Gaxiola has decided to leave the agency.
Gaxiola joined Ogilvy & Mather Singapore in 2009 as interim Executive Creative Director initially for six months, but stayed on for two years. Prior to this appointment, he was based in San Francisco working at Goodby, Silverstein and Partners.
During his stint at Ogilvy Singapore, the agency has been named Singapore Creative Agency of the Year by Campaign Brief Asia in 2009 and 2010. More recently, his work for Faber Castell picked up the prestigious D&AD Yellow Pencil.
Said Gaxiola: "I’m leaving here with a D&AD Yellow Pencil, a few Silver Lions and a huge dose of growing up. My first love is still writing, so I’m back to finishing my novel before starting any other creative venture."
Eugene Cheong, Regional Creative Director of Ogilvy & Mather Asia Pacific, said: "Rob joined the Singapore office when the creative department was in disarray. He bought us time to look for a creative leader who would unite the multi-disciplinary Singapore superhub. That person, of course, is Steve Back.
"During Rob’s tenure, the Singapore creative department won a truckload of accolades. He is leaving the agency a lot stronger than he found it. Now, he’s off to write his book. I look forward to working with him again after he becomes a published author."
