ASIA-PACIFIC – AUGUST 29, 2011 – The AD STARS 2011 Busan International Advertising Festival closed on August 27 with the awarding of the Grand Prix winners: Tokyu Agency Japan’s "Japan World Cup" for Japan Racing and Livestock Promotion Foundation in the Products & Services category, which also won Gold in Interactive-Website/Microsite, and Publicis Jakarta’s "Mudflow" for JATAM in the Public Service Advertising category. Both Grand Prix winners received a cash prize of USD10,000.

Publicis Jakarta receives the cash prize for the PSA category
Other big winners of the ceremonies held over two consecutive nights at the Busan Hauendae Grand Hotel included JWT Shanghai’s "Heaven and Hell" print ad for Samsonite, which won Gold in Cosmetics/Beauty as well as Craft Illustration; Clemenger BBDO Melbourne’s "Slo mo" for Carlton Draught, which won Gold in Beverage and Craft/Music; Y&R Singapore’s "Tin Toys" campaign for Mint Museum of Toys, which also garnered Silver for its "Doll" ad; and BBDO Guerrero/Proximity Philippines’ "Carpenter" print ad for Bayer Saridon, which received a Gold, as well as a Silver Star each for the "Laundry" execution and entire campaign.
Australia, Canada, China, Japan, Thailand, the Philippines and Singapore–all of which produced Gold–did well in the metal tallies, challenging host country South Korea to improve its showing next year.
A total of 2 Grands Prix, 10 Gold Stars, 33 Silver Stars, 24 Bronzes and 2 Merit awards were handed out of over 7,000 initial entries and over 1,000 entries shortlisted by an online jury. Neil French chaired the jury for the final judging held in Busan earlier in the week. An all-female team from China won the Young Stars student competition, which was based on a brief for a film with an anti-war message.
The closing ceremony included musical performances and games for guests, capping the three-day festival in the port city of Busan, South Korea’s second largest city.
