MANILA, JANUARY 18, 2013 – Ayala Land is developing a 21-hectare lot in Sta Ana, Makati—home to what was once the premier horse race track in the Philippines—into an urban entertainment hub called "Circuit Makati".
On Tuesday night, January 15, Ayala Land, together with the Philippine Racing Club Inc, Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay and First District Congresswoman Monique Lagdameo, offered a glimpse of Circuit with a night of grand entertainment ending in spectacular fireworks display.
PRCI president Simeon Cua officially opened the event with words of gratitude to past and present leadership of the city, and confidence with the Ayala Land as they build further on Makati’s stature as the country’s unrivaled destination for leisure and entertainment. "Makati was an agricultural municipality beside the city of Manila. Today Makati is the premier city of the Philippines."
Circuit Makati will become the first and only large-scale urban-district development in the country to host three district entertainment venues. This involves the Circuit Theatre, an indoor theater; the Central Walkway, an interactive walk that crosses that entire length of the district; and the Globe Circuit Events Ground, in partnership with Globe Telecom, which will host street plays, festivals, fashion shows and outdoor exhibit events. The development will also include a football field, skate park, shops and offices.
Christian Bautista, Karylle and Zia Quizon came to offer powerful performances, alongside Filipino-American Disney star Anna Maria Perez de Tagle, "The King and I" star Leo Valdez and dance crew Jabbawockeez. The show was presented by Stages Production, with Alvin Trono as producer, George de Jesus III for concept and Roy del Valle as musical director.
"This is a place where something amazing is always going on," shares Antonio Aquino, president of Ayala Land.
Come February 2013, Alveo Land will be launching residential projects at Circuit Makati, while the mall and retail developments are expected to begin next year.
Circuit Makati will be accessible from the Makati CBD through Ayala Avenue Extension and South Avenue.
