MANILA, APRIL 10, 2013 – Bienvenido "Nonoy" Niles Jr has been re-elected as officer of the Advertising Board of the Philippines (AdBoard) – this time taking over as chairman, after stepping down as vice-chair in February.
Niles is currently the president of the Marketing and Opinion Research Society of the Philippines or MORES, an organization of market research agencies in the country including IPSOS, Nielsen, Kantar Worldpanel and TNS Philippines to name a few. He is also the chairman of Boomerang Advisory, a member of MORES.
Frank Abueva (OAAP), Tessie Celestino-Howard (IBA) and Faith Albano (CAAP) are also returning to AdBoard as vice-chair, secretary and PR & info officer respectively, with Angelito Pangilinan (MSAP) elected as treasurer.
The election follows former chairman Ricky Alegre’s decision to relinquish his post in February, barely a month after the deadlocked ballot against 4A’s Alex JaymeSyfu. Alegre, who in the January elections assured top priority was to "solve the ASC issue", hoped the move would convey a message of unity.
The Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies (4As) of the Philippines is the third group to leave AdBoard after the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) in 2005 and the Philippine Association of National Advertisers (PANA) in 2012.
