MANILA, PHILIPPINES– The Gerety Awards has announced the winners for this year and selected jurors will reflect on the works and the judging process on adobo Talks x Gerety Awards 2020 Jury Insights on Thursday, October 22, at 4:30pm PHT.
Characterized by its all-female jury, the awards show includes some of the world’s greatest agency and brand leaders discerning advertising bodies of work through the female lens. adobo magazine rounded up four of the women who have recently voted and chose the Gold, Silver, Bronze and Grand Prix: Jax Jung, Global Creative Director, ě śěťĽę¸°íšŤ (CheilWorldwide); Lizi Hamer, Regional Creative Director, Octagon APAC, Singapore; Melinda Po, Managing Director, Edelman Shanghai & Chief Growth Officer, Edelman China, and; Valerie Madon, Chief Creative Officer Asia, VMLY&R, Singapore.
Jung is a Global Creative Director working on Samsung Electronics. Prior to Cheil, she worked at Ogilvy New York and Publicis New York and has been successful in working for a number of Fortune 500 companies while she was there.
Her clients included: Motorola, Kodak, Feeding America, Dove, Stolichnaya, Louis Vuitton, Puerto Rico Tourism Board, Global Minute Maid, Dasani, IKEA, Citizen’s Bank, AVON, Gap and Citibank. Jax is curious how technology meets with advertising and continues to develop new ideas that challenges the norm.
Her works have been honored at Cannes, OneShow, D&AD, Clio Awards, New York Festival, London Award Show, Spikes Asia, AdFest, iF Design Awards, AdStars, Korea Advertising Festival and many more.
She was ranked as one of Korea’s Most Creative in 2018 and most recently, sat as a jury for Cannes Lions Advertising Festival for Digital Craft in 2019. She had also sat in the jury panel at AdFest for Mobile and Interactive Lotus earlier this year. In 2018, she has been on jury for Spikes Asia for the Glass Awards and Film Craft categories. She is frequently invited as a guest speaker to AdFest in both 2018 and 2019 to give a session on “Tech your new BFF,” and “Humanitech.”
As a Regional Creative Director, Hamer earns attention through her highly crafted stories, powerful network of collaborators and an unwavering belief that creativity can help solve world problems.
Her infectious style, tireless Story Hunting and generous ideas have landed her on the TEDx stage and as an expert on the advertising TV show, Gruen. She has shared provoking opinions on the Masters Stage of Creativity at Spikes Asia. Plus she’s been able to support the industry as a Spikes Entertainment & CannesLions Juror.
But generous ideas don’t stop there. Hamer curated and led See It Be It 2019, the CannesLions career acceleration program developed to help raise more Creative Women in industry. And SisuGirls is her heart-warming side hustle, that build’s grit in girls through sport and adventure.
Po’s career has covered multiple disciplines of the advertising world. Before joining Edelman, she served as Managing Partner at Ogilvy Shanghai running their integrated team to drive both marketing and business’s solution capability’s growth including Branding, Digital, Social and PR offering.
She previously worked at AKQA Shanghai playing a key role developing the client portfolio, for companies such as Nike, Coca-Cola, Budweiser, Unilever, Uniqlo and Tencent, with a proven track record, including Cannes, Effie and Agency of the year awards.
She then founded Arcade Shanghai, building a team of 25 people and winning several key clients including Unilever, Honeywell and Ray-Ban within the first year of operations. Over the years Melinda has shown the ability to manage large global brands, has been exposed to the latest in digital creativity and technology, and has comprehensive brand marketing experience.
Madon’s creative career spans for more than 20 years, building brands and creating integrated experiences for clients such a Hewlett-Packard, Procter & Gamble, Singapore Airlines, HSBC, Burger King, VISA, Singapore Tourism Board, Changi Airport, Central Provident Fund, Shell, GSK, Cycle & Carriage, Friesland Campina and many others.
Over the years, she has made her mark at all major award shows such as Cannes Lions, London International Awards and One Show. Under her leadership, JWT Singapore picked up the Best Of Show at Creative Circle Awards, including Grand Prix for Digital/Mobile, making them the Digital Agency of The Year.
For all her achievements, Madon was awarded Singapore’s first Digital Creative Director of The Year award at the 2011 Advertising Hall of Fame event and she continued to defend this title again in 2012. She has consistently voted by IAS as one of Singapore’s Most Influential Creative Director from 2011 to 2018. This year, she was appointed the amabassador for Spike’s female accelerator program See It Be It, to guide and inspire future young female talent in advertising.
Besides painting and advertising, her love for cooking inspired her to launch Licktionary, an artisan ice cream shop, which she manages with her husband, Farrokh Madon, another advertising veteran.
