REGIONAL, JUNE 3, 2013 – Today, CNN International announced that Andrew Demaria, the head of travel, is to take charge of the CNN editorial digital team in Asia beginning June. This appointment links the two units under him. As Executive Producer, Digital Asia and CNN Travel, Demaria is to oversee both the cnn.com regional news team as well as the international Travel team.

Demaria, who hails from Melbourne, Australia and has been with CNN International since 2000, now supervises 20 staff as well as freelancers worldwide .

Nick Wrenn, vice president of Digital Services for CNN International, said that Demaria’s appointment was based on the fact that his experience in Asia and Europe, across sponsored features and news and digital and TV, makes him a natural fit for the expanded role. Demaria had previously launched CNNGo as well as a new travel service for CNN.com International, which Wrenn said had surpassed all its growth targets to date.
